Perhaps a loved one or a teacher may have encouraged you with the words, “It’s never too late”.
Like so many other things, “never too late” is not always true. It is always too late to make a first impression, the second time you meet someone. And it is always too late to avoid the unintended consequences of our actions. Fortunately for all of us, in some very important areas, it is true that it is “never too late”.
You have ambitions and goals in life. For one reason or another you may not have achieved what you wanted to achieve by this time in your life. But your time has not been wasted. You may not have achieved what you planned to achieve, but you have acquired invaluable experiences along the way. . Hopefully, you have learnt some unexpected, unplanned, valuable lessons.. Those count for something. If nothing else, you are now aware of what you failed to do to have achieved the results you expected..
Either way, today you are a more experienced, more focused, and wiser person. With these assets, you are now in a much better position to achieve either your revised goals, or a brand new goal. You’re just in time to prepare for the rest of your life. You may have heard it said that God is a God of second chances. That’s only partly true.
The truth is that God is the God of multiple chances. Just think of how many times you have screwed up, and you are given another chance… and if you are like me, you screw up again. What God tells us is that his mercies are renewed every morning… and if you doubt me, the next time you have a horrible day that lingers into the night… I guarantee you that the following morning, God’s sun will rise in the east… and your clock will start all over again.
The problem is not that life gives up on us. The problem is that too often, we give up on life. One day, it will be “too late”. Fortunately for you, you will not be around to recognize those words..
